I am a “snowbird,” living and teaching ikebana in two beautiful places, Woods Hole, MA and St. Petersburg, FL. My
teacher certification comes from the Ichiyo School although I have also completed many garden club flower arranging courses. Therefore, my teaching approach is influenced by both. The Ichiyo School embraces the philosophy that flower arranging is an expression of one’s individual creativity. Founded in 1937, the school constantly changes with the times. It is well-known for its modern approach and belief that arrangements must be suitable for, and inspired by, the location in which they will be placed. Therefore, if you’re looking for lessons in how to create beautiful table centerpieces, look no further. They’re my specialty! Professionally, I was a ballet dancer and later a professor in the dance department of the University of South Florida. For many years, I also maintained a side business designing flowers for weddings.  In St. Petersburg my arrangements have been shown at Art in Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts, the Imagine Museum, and our annual Ikebana International exhibition in Treasure Island. I am past President of the Tampa Rose Society. In Massachusetts, I have presented programs for the Falmouth Garden Club, the Woods Hole Historical Museum and the Ikebana International chapter of Boston.
