Sogetsu is freedom, creativity, and discovery. It invites us to see beauty in unexpected ways and to transform simple materials into one-of-a-kind artworks.
I give beginners a strong foundation in the basic forms and principles—because before we can bend the rules, we must first understand them. From there, I encourage individuality, experimentation, and joy.
My background in fashion design taught me proportions, balance, and the power of line. When Ikebana crossed my path 25 years ago it felt like meeting an old friend—just in floral form. I was drawn to Sogetsu’s bold, modern spirit, its collaborations with artists like Picasso, Dalí, and Warhol in its early years and its fearless embrace of the new.
Sogetsu changes how you see space. Suddenly your world feels different—lighter, freer, more alive. That’s what I share in my classes: creativity, confidence, and always laughter. If you want to find me and my students—just follow the laughter.
